Create your future

In partnership with local communities, me2 implements projects that combine environmental, social and economic dimensions in order to respond to current challenges in terms of development whilst keeping a focus on the evolving needs of future generations.

The aim of me2 is to promote sustainable development and human flourishing worldwide through sustainable actions with a long-term outlook.

me2 will intervene in selected locations to transform vulnerable communities and ecosystems into resilient, self-sustaining habitats through systemic ecological land management, integration of eco-technologies and community-wide education and health initiatives.

Each intervention will have objectively measurable outcomes.

  • me2 will seek to operate on as wide a scale as possible while ensuring that strict performance standards are reached and maintained.
  • me2 will seek to make all projects financially self-sufficient through social enterprise initiatives.
  • me2 will partner strategically with other NGO’s to provide the services, expertise, and technology necessary to achieve the specific project outcomes.

Background

Sustainable Development

Almost 83% of wealth in the world is in the hands of less than 10% of the population. Over and above the economic, social and ethical issues that this imbalance presents, it is unrealistic to think that even the wealthiest societies might continue to evolve in a positive way in these conditions. This uneven wealth distribution affects the environment, health and education and generates conflicts, which already impact everyone, whether directly or indirectly.

In the build up to the US / Africa Summit which was held in August 2014 in Washington, Barack Obama declared, “The security and prosperity and justice that we seek in the world cannot be achieved without a strong and prosperous and self-reliant Africa”. Far from inspiring resignation, this statement and the global issues it highlights, are a formidable source of inspiration to create a future where, more than ever, different generations and cultures will need to come together to find tangible solutions, that are beneficial for all.

At the current time, more and more initiatives are put in place to address this challenge. Amongst these, features the first United Nations Assembly for the Environment held in Nairobi in June 2014 that welcomed representatives from 163 member states and centred around the main issue: the objectives of sustainable development. While it is of course encouraging to witness this period of ‘awakening’, the actions of governments and international organisations are subject to the vagaries of world political issues that slow responsiveness. Civil society has the advantage of being able to put complementary solutions in place with a much greater degree of flexibility.

  • In collaboration with local communities,
  • and in consultation with experts in the different specialisations within the domain of sustainable development and international relations,
  • and with your help, me2 aims to contribute to a better future.
